Coffee Prevents Against Diabetes

By >> Kiran Banker

In India, most people from South India prefers Coffee. But now, coffee business is also doing well in North India. It was recently stated that one who regularly drink coffee protects against Type 2 Diabetes. These facts about coffee was informed in a journal called 'Diabetes' by author Atsushi Goto and Dr. Simon Liu.
In this journal, they both explained the molecular mechanism of how coffee would prevent Type 2 diabetes. A protein called sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) regulates the biological activity of the body's sex hormones, testosterone and estrogen, which have long been thought to play a role in the development of type 2 diabetes.

It was also examined that if women drink at least four cups of coffee everyday, they could easily cut down half of the risk of diabetes Type 2. It was found that women who drank four cups of caffeinated coffee each day had significantly higher levels of SHBG than did non-drinkers and were half as likely to develop diabetes than were non-coffee drinkers. When the findings were adjusted for blood SHBG levels, the decrease in risk associated with coffee consumption was not significant, suggesting that it is SHBG that mediates the decrease in risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

95 % of people throughout the world are suffering with type 2 diabetes. Earlier, many studies have revealed about the relationship between Coffee and Type 2 Diabetes. More you consume coffee, lesser the risk of diabetes. It was assumed that Coffee has got the power to combat sugar levels in the body but it is still very inconclusive.
Another interesting fact showed in the study that the diabetes-fighting benefits of coffee were eliminated if the drinkers chose decaffeinated brews.

But, let me tell you don't have coffee of 7 cups or more a day, as it may lead to other health problems. Especially, for those who already have diabetes, the habit may aggravate the condition.
Anyhow, enjoy the Coffee but don't get addicted.
